    We're challenging applicants to identify solutions that will improve the global water crisis, starting with their own communities. We want you to turn the tide!

    Highlight a water issue affecting your community or beyond, and how you might help address it.

    Whether it’s improving water quality or making water more accessible, choose an issue you’re passionate about. (And don’t be afraid to think outside the box!)

    Global Citizen Scholarship 2019



    1. Eligibility

    No purchase necessary. This competition is sponsored by EF Global Classroom Foundation. This Global Citizen Scholarship to Panama is open to U.S. residents ages 13 or older at the time of entry who are current freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors in high school. Employees, directors, officers and principals of EF Institute for Cultural Exchange, Inc., its subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, agents and members of their immediate families or households are not eligible to participate. This sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law.

    2. How to enter

    Visit to read the rules and apply for the scholarship, which is being hosted on Hootsuite. All entries completed correctly will be eligible to enter the 2019 Global Citizen Scholarship.

    3. Promotion period

    The competition starts at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on November 1st 2018 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 7th 2019 (the “Promotion Period”). All entries must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. on January 7, 2019. EF may adjust or extend the promotion period at its sole discretion. Limit one entry per person. All entries submitted become the sole property of EF and will not be returned. Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means are prohibited and will be automatically disqualified.

    4. Selection of recipients

    The selection of recipients will be conducted by a panel of judges designated by EF. This selection will take place on or around January 31, 2018. All decisions are final. 

    5. Prize

    Current high school students who exemplify the qualities of a Global Citizen are awarded scholarships. Recipients will be high school students who are devoted to promoting global awareness. Recipients will join peers from across the country on a 2019 tour of Panama. EF reserves the right to adjust tour destinations and details as needed. In order to participate on the tour to Panama, all recipients must complete the EF Educational Tours application which includes a Release and Agreement. Scholarship recipients will be expected to participate in a variety of pre/post tour activities to prepare for the scholarship experience. EF reserves the right to disqualify any recipient prior to the tour if they do not continue to exemplify the qualities of a Global Citizen or if, in EF’s sole discretion, their participation on the tour would no longer be appropriate. Travelers will be required to obtain their own travel documentation, including but not limited to a passport and any applicable visa.

    6. General conditions

    All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply to the competition. This competition is void where prohibited by law. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email or telephone and may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Publicity and Liability within 14 days of notification. In the event of noncompliance, if the recipient cannot be reached at the email address or telephone number submitted with entry, or if the scholarship notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable, the scholarship will be forfeited and an alternate recipient will be selected. No cash alternative or substitution of any scholarship award will be offered. No scholarship transfer is permitted. Limit one scholarship per person. Participants agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of EF are final and binding in all respects. All submissions become the property of EF. No photos, videos, or other media will be returned. By uploading content such as photograph image files or video, entrants agree to give EF or its designee irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to use the photo/video for any purpose including publication, display, modification, and creation of derivative works. By making a submission to the Global Citizen Scholarship Competition, participants acknowledge and agree that such submission will be brought within the public domain and EF will not be held liable for any copying, re-posting or unlawful use of the submission that may result. By participating and accepting the scholarship, the recipient agrees to the use of his/her name for advertising or publicity purposes and to the use of statements made by or attributed to him/her relating to EF or this competition, and releases any and all rights to said use without further compensation. In the event of a dispute, all entries will be deemed to be made by the holder of the email account associated with the entry.

    7. Release of liability

    All entrants release, indemnify and hold harmless EF Global Classroom Foundation, EF Education First International, Ltd., EF Institute for Cultural Exchange, Inc., their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees and all others associated with the development and execution of the competition (the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this competition and/or acceptance or use of the scholarship, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, loss or any actual or alleged infringement or misappropriation of any third party proprietary rights. EF is not responsible for entries that are corrupted or otherwise not received correctly or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email, or on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the scholarship. EF assumes no responsibility for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the scholarship or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the scholarship. EF assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, including lost, late or misdirected entries. EF is not responsible for user cheating or fraud by any entrants. Any activities intended to disrupt or interfere with the competition, or defraud EF in any way may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Participants engaging in any of the foregoing activities will be disqualified and any scholarships awarded will be forfeited. If, for any reason, the competition is not able to be run as planned, including without limitation infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of EF which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, EF reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.

    8. Recipient list

    A list of scholarship recipients will be available to all participants at  on or around January 30th 2019.
